Love Is in the Air

I have been working on my coloring with my new Copic markers. I LOVE them but there is definitely a learning curve. I am trying to remember all of the things I have read from different blogs about Copic markers and watching video tutorials. I have been playing with my new Hanna stamps and Bella stamps which I LOVE also. I also am including a card that I had previously messed up. I was gonna throw it into the circular file but rather cut out the cool part and re-did it. I am just going to say that I use Bazzill paper for everything but the images are stamped on cheap cardstock. I'm waiting on my quality cardstock from Paper Trey Ink.

Sense of Accomplishment

As many of you know, I have my own pursemaking business that keeps me quite busy. Well, I got to the point where I had 30 purse covers to do at a time so I decided to take a break from the cards and other stuff to make them. I finished them all this morning and I felt so good to be able to see them all lined up on the table. I made some for myself and am really excited about some fabric I found at Hancock Fabrics. They are in the front row, the first two on the left. I just love the vintage feel of the one on the left and the skulls with the hearts are just cool! Here's a picture of all of my hard work. Now, I can spend some time making cards after my college work is done!

If you like my purse covers go check out my purse blog: Plaid Leaf Purses, www.plaidleafpurses.blogspot.com. The link is also listed to the left. I have tons of covers to choose from!

Two Posts in One Day!

Okay, this isn't going to include any of my work but rather a yippee moment for me! Actually two...

1.) Fedex delivered my Copic markers to school...can't wait to get them tomorrow. Bad thing is that I have class tomorrow night and won't be home until 8 p.m. I will still find time to play!

2.) My Bella order is no longer in Canada! It was supposed to be delivered today but hopefully in the next couple of days!

3.) I got my order from My Favorite Things yesterday. (Okay, I know it's now three yippee moments.) :)

Have a great night!

Cupcakes

I have jumped on the cupcake bandwagon and have totally agreed that they are stinkin' cute! I am entering this card in the Bitten By the Bug contest as well. I had such fun making this card with my new Design Studio software and some yummy Confetti paper by My Mind's Eye.

More Love

I made a shape card for a cool contest over on Bitten By the Bug. Regina Easter has a great site going over there with challenges for her design team and great contests too! Basically, you had to create a shape card using the Cricut or Cricut Expression. I don't have the Expression....yet so mine was made with my trusty Cricut!

My favorite parts:

Supplies:
Bazzill cardstock
Love, Elsie patterned and embossed paper
Love, Elsie rub-ons
Love, Elsie rubber sticker
Spare Parts major big brad
Making Memories heart brad
Random chocolate brown ribbon
Sewing done on trusty Singer with red thread
Heidi Grace stick pin with Me & My Big Ideas rhinestone added on
Rhinestones from Wal-Mart
Scalloped heart from Doodlecharms and Cricut
Tim Holtz distressing ink
Heidi Swapp ribbon to make it into a card
Heidi Swapp distresser

Wow! I didn't realize all of the different supplies that I used! It did take a good amount of time but I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Thinking of You and Other Stuff

This post is full of random info...just an fyi!

I am now hooked on Etsy! I love looking at everyone's handmade stuff. I think that when I catch up with my orders, I will put some of my purses on the site.

I am anxiously waiting for Copic markers, Bella stamps, and a prize from a contest from the mail. Oh how I wish the postal service only catered to me :).

On another note, I found some rockin' fabric at Hancock Fabrics today to make some purse covers out of for myself. Speaking of purse covers, I only have about 30 to do to catch up...yikes!

Here's a set of cards that my sister-in-law helped me complete for my mother-in-law. The boys watched the OSU vs. LSU game Monday night and we made cards. I didn't finish them until Wednesday but they were really easy.
Here's a general picture of the cards and then a couple of close ups of the two different styles:

Supplies:
white card bases from Michael's
Bazzill cardstock
random ribbon from stash
Cuttlebug and embossing folders
Heidi Swapp distresser
black ink from Joann Fabric's

Winter Cards

This week has been quite an adventure. I missed work on Monday and today because of problems with a dental implant. After it was all said and done, there was a large piece of the temporary cement that had worked it's way into the gum lining the crown. It was causing a lot of pain and once it was removed this morning, I was good to go. It reminded me of Seinfeld when Kramer and Jerry were watching a surgery and they accidentally hit a Junior Mint into the patient. Okay, so my problem wasn't a Junior Mint but it still wasn't supposed to be there!

Anyway, I have two winter cards to share with you tonight. The first one is my favorite, probably because of all of the glitter. Anytime I get to glitterfy one of my projects, it's a good time!

Supplies:
My Mind's Eye patterned paper
Bazzill cardstock and scallop paper
"winter" Heidi Swapp chipboard letters
Brown lace is from stash
Snowflake is an Ellison die cut
Martha Stewart glitter
Rhonna Farrer button
Pearl buttons from Hancock Fabrics

Supplies:
Bazzill scallop paper
Chatterbox Designer Paper
Black organza ribbon by Offray
Basic Grey holly and berries chipboard
Stickles Christmas Red
Making Memories black brads

Cricut Design Studio!

I just got the Cricut Design Studio software in the mail today and I am so excited to play. I haven't decided yet whether to put it on my laptop or the desktop. From my understanding, it can only be put on one computer so I need to decide. Does anyone have any suggestions as to desktop or laptop?

I also went shopping today at Michael's and the LSS for new fun Valentine's Day papers and things. I found a wonderful deal on Martha Stewart Christmas ribbon but it will definitely work for V-Day stuff too since it's red, white, and pink. I also found some adorable heart tins in the $ section so I want to alter those.

Sorry this is another project-free post but I've been working on a few projects that aren't quite finished.

2008!

Happy birthday to me!
Happy birthday to me!
Happy birthday dear meee!
Happy birthday dear me!

I'm 26 today and am looking forward to a really great year. I know it's four days into the new year but I always consider my birthday as a starting point for the year. This year I have some hopes and wishes for the year.

1. Finish my Master's degree.
I have been going to U of L for 2 years now in hopes of finishing a Master's degree in Spanish and I have just one semester left. I am so ready for it to be completely finished, degree in hand, and raise in the work check. I have enjoyed it but it's an incredible amount of work on top of my other things.

2. Get healthy.
I want to not have to have the hope of getting healthy for 2009 but rather maintain healthiness. I was there before so I know how to get back there...it's just doing it!

3. Get published.
I want so bad to be published in some sort of papercrafting magazine. I'm not sure that my work is up to par but I love doing it.

4. Enjoy the here and now.
I think sometimes I focus too much on the next break from work or a big event coming up....or even, okay especially, summertime. I need to enjoy the present and even though I have to get up and go to work each weekday, there's always something to enjoy at the time.

Have a great 2008!

Love, Elsie Style

I just love my Love, Elsie stuff. The colors are so brilliant and just great. Valentine's Day is right around the corner so it's time to crank out some more cards. What better reason to go shopping at the scrapbook store than a new season. Speaking of shopping, my husband and I were in the local teacher store the other day and there's a tiny scrapbook section in the store. I found the most beautiful Reminisce and Heidi Grace papers at a great deal.

Here's my card:

Sassafras Lass patterned paper
Love, Elsie embossed paper
Love, Elsie rub-ons

Ummm...Watermelon

Well, it's about 20 degrees here today but it feels like 1 degree and we had a snow day so I decided to be a rebel and make a summery card. Eating watermelon during the summer is one of my great pleasures. I made a card using my new Kim Hughes Collection stamps.

Supplies:
Bazzill cardstock
Me & My Big Ideas rhinestones
Stampin' Up markers
Crystal Effects
Heidi Swapp ribbon
