Joy

I know that Christmas is two months away but everyone is posting such neat cards that I just had to make one. Plus, I got a new stash of the Basic Grey Figgy Pudding.

A close up of all of the glitter bling

Supplies:
Basic Grey Figgy Pudding patterned paper
Bazzill cardstock
Basic Grey undressed snowflake
Chocolate brown ribbon from stash
Button from bag of buttons but I don't remember which brand
Basic Grey rubons
Basic Grey reindeer stamp
Stickles--Diamond
Cricut machine for scallop squares
Martha Stewart glitter and glitter glue
Thickers letters for "joy"

Boy was this fun! The glitter was the best part and it's probably still all over me! I love making cards where I get down and dirty with the creation. I started with Bazzill cardstock as the base. I cut two scalloped squares with my Cricut using the Mini Monograms cartridge. I used a long piece of ribbon to tie a bow around the top layer of the Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper....which is delicious! I glittered up the snowflake and put a cute button in the center that matches the blue Bazzill. I added the word "joy" in the corner using my Thickers letters from American Crafts...also very yummy. I stamped the reindeer head from a Basic Grey acrylic set and then Stickled it like crazy. I added rubons to the corners of the paper that the reindeer is stamped on. Oh, what great fun this was to make!

It's the weekend

Okay, it's almost the weekend. I just have to get through the rest of the work day and I can officially begin to enjoy the weekend. I am determined to get into my crafty things this weekend. I don't really have anything in particular to make but I'm itching to make something! I have extra breaks at work today so I can work on Master's class work and not have as much of that to do over the weekend. My husband and I are actually going to be home instead of running someplace. I do have Bunco tonight with my gal pals but that's such a blast! Everyone enjoy the weekend and the fall weather.

We Have a Winner!

My random number generator (a.k.a. my husband) has picked a random number. After I asked him for a number, he said, "Why?" I said it was for the blog candy. He said ok....

Anyway, he said 8 so I checked out who was the eighth person to post and it was Brenda! Brenda please send me your address so I can send out your candy. Thanks everyone else and I'll offer more candy. It's fun :).

Also, thanks so much to everyone for posting your favorite stamping companies.

Craft Fair Is Over

Well, the craft fair is over...it was a lot of fun because I got to talk to a lot of people, hand out lots of business cards, and I even sold two purses today. I hope that by passing out my business cards there will be more people who contact me. The best part of the day was that it was beautiful and there was a constant stream of people walking through and looking at my purses. The worst part of the day was the weird sunburn that I got. First of all, I should have known to put on sunscreen...I can look outside and get a sunburn. Anyway, the sun was coming up on one side of our booths. So...I have a bad sunburn on the right side of my face and the left side is somewhat red. To top that off I had on sunglasses so there is a nice white line around my eyes. I feel like hiding in the apartment. The good thing is that it will not be so bad tomorrow. Anyway, just wanted to share that it was fun and successful.

Got Paint! Challenge

First of all, don't forget to post a comment to let me know about your favorite stamping company. It's a couple of posts down...you could win some great blog candy. The last day to comment is October 15th.

Okay, now to the card. I decided I just had to enter the Got Paint! Challenge over at Caardvarks. You can definitely tell I've been painting....it's all over my hands.

Close up of butterfly:

Close up of how the card opens to show the red inside:

I love paint! I used a scalloped foam stamp, added and then cut around the scallops so you can see the edge of the inside of the card. I painted that part red. I also did a green border with the black. I distressed all the way around the BG paper with black paint and also painted the butterfly with red and added Crystal Stickles all around it. I tied on an organza ribbon and stamped {celebrate} on the top of the card. I put five gigantic red rhinestones on a natural circle on the card. I love BG paper!

Supplies:
Making Memories paint--black, red, green
Faux rhinestones--Walmart
Ribbon--from ribbon stash
Stickles--Frosted Lace and Diamond
Heidi Swapp ghost butterfly
Making Memories foam stamps--"celebrate", {}, scallops
Bazzill cardstock in white
Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter

Craft Fair

Well, tomorrow I will be at a craft fair all day! I am really excited because it's the first fair where I will be the one behind the table instead of the one shopping. I hope that it goes really well. I will be selling my purses but did not get any cards or altered items ready for the fair. I want to focus on getting my name out as a purse maker right now and maybe at a fair down the road, I will also sell cards or/and altered items. I think there are some things about craft fairs that are so important. Now, it's my first one so maybe someone could give me more hints too. I know I have prepared all of my fabric samples in plastic bags with prices and the fabric number on the back. That way, everyone who looks at them will not have to touch the actual fabric and then if they want to see it out, I can get it out for them. They are in clear containers (I bought them at Wal-Mart where they sell the dish drying crates.) and are numbered. I'm sure I'll have to organize a lot tomorrow after people have looked through them. Also, I will have boxes and weights to put on my table....boxes to elevate things and weights to hold down the boxes. I have bought sheer and plain fabric to cover my table with and I'm going to make a sign tonight. I hope that the things that I am doing will encourage people to check out my purses. Wish me luck!

Busy week

Hi everyone! Well, I did get a project done while at the scrapbooking party this past weekend but I couldn't get a good picture of it. It was a ton of fun though...we snacked and scrapped...what's better than that? Okay, maybe getting more projects/cards/page done but oh well! Anyway, it's a busy week at school and college. It's the first week back from fall break at school so the kids are getting back on schedule and it's always crazy anyway. Then, at college it's midterm week. I just finished writing a paper for tomorrow and still have an exam to study for tomorrow. I also got four inner purses done last night for some customers. Go check out my purses if you haven't already...I make all of it! I start with a pile of fabric and supplies and end up with a wonderful purse :). Plaid Leaf Purses (www.plaidleafpurses.blogspot.com) is the name of my business. I am hoping to get some cards and fun stuff done this week or this weekend.

Life is busy but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Scrapbook Party

Tomorrow night there will be four scrapbooking fiends in my apartment with paper flying, paper trimmers cutting, and adhesive sticking! I am so looking forward to getting together with some friends and just having fun scrapbooking and making cards. It will give me a chance to work on some cards and scrapbook pages that I haven't had a chance to do lately. My purse business has really taken off and I've been sewing like a mad woman to try to get caught up. The second weekend in October, I'll be at the River Heritage Festival in Brandenburg at the river. It should be wonderful...as long as it doesn't rain. I have also gone through all of my supplies and weeded out the things that I no longer use. I think I'm becoming a supply snob hehehe. I just love the designer papers and products and can't seem to use what I buy that isn't the well-known quality supplies. I guess it is just a matter of preference but I love the NICE stuff!

Okay, I really hope to post a whole bunch of stuff after tomorrow night. On a personal note, I'll be in Louisville for most of Friday and Saturday for a conference on TPRS (Total Physical Response Storytelling) which is the method that I use when teaching the little kiddos Spanish. I love it and am actually really excited to spend two days of my fall break at a conference...crazy, huh?

Don't forget to post a comment for the blog candy. I bought the candy at the new scrapbook store in town and it's so fun!
